Indigenous home retrofit program spotlight
Since its 2021 launch, the no-cost, direct-install retrofit initiative — SaskPower Northern First Nations Home Retrofit Program (NFNHRP) — has made a significant impact in northern Saskatchewan. This program provides in-home energy assessments, energy coaching and free installation of both basic and comprehensive energy-saving measures installed by locally trained community members. Over 620 homes across 17 First Nations communities have been supported by the program. The NFNHRP has greatly improved health and safety in homes, reduced utility bills and promoted long-term environmental sustainability. We are committed to supporting these communities in their energy efficiency journey and are proud of the positive reception and impact our program has achieved.
